Alopecia Areata Treatment Alternative Medicine

Alopecia areata is a disease that researches are yet to finish studying. The current results of these studies have provided people with hope with treatments. While half of the total number of cases needs treatment, the other half can go through without one. This is because there is a high possibility that the hair will grow back on its own.

Alopecia areata treatment has made a lot of people gain back their confidence. However, the studies have also showed no evidence of permanent treatment as of now. Because of this and that fact that the treatments have side effects, people tried to find natural remedies for alopecia areata.

The following are some of the natural cures for alopecia areata. Researchers found these alternative treatments with their exploration of the disease.

  • Essential oils are to be massaged to the scalp in a daily basis. The usage of this treatment has showed high improvement, even when compared to some treatments that require medications or therapies. No side effects were observed with the use of essential oils. However, allergic reactions may occur to some patients. Essential oils are found in flowers and/or leaves. These have therapeutic properties that make them useful in alternative therapies such as aromatherapy and massage therapy. Since these are concentrated, it is advisable to use only a small amount on every application. They may cause burns, or overdose if used incorrectly.
  • Onion juice is also highly effective. Applying twice a day, in two weeks results will be observed in some people. In six weeks up to two full months, majority of the patients using this treatment experience hair regrowth. It has also been noticed that males show significant improvement compared to the opposite sex.
  • Hypnosis was also proven effective, especially to the patients who have been experiencing depression and anxiety. As for those who do not require hypnosis, stress reduction is also advised. Acupuncture and hair massage have been a suggestion of alternative medicine professionals.
  • Aloe vera reduces the inflammation in hair follicles. It contains substances that, according to some studies, have the ability to stimulate growth of new hair.
  • Sunlight has UV radiation, and UV light can reduce the immune cells in the skin. Exposure to sunlight promises results because if the immune cells in the scalp is reduced, there is high possibility that there will also be less attacked hair cells. In short, exposure to sunlight can result to growing back of hair.
  • Heat treatment can be an alternative to sunlight.
  • Herbs are also prescribed to some patients.

These are just some of the natural cures for alopecia areata. There are other alternative treatments for this disease; however, the results provided are still not yet studied well. Success rates of using the other alternative cures are still unknown. Researchers are still trying to find more alternative treatments for alopecia areata. Even though some of the researched and recommended natural cures seem to be satisfying already, they are still looking for ways to lessen the side effects or discomforts one may experience.
